How Your Donation Supports JEPF

A donation to JEPF goes into one of two buckets, and it is useful to know which.

The first is immediate cost. Books, school supplies, backpacks, computers, printers, exam fees, scholarships and educational assistance for students whose place is at risk. This is the majority of what we do and it is deliberately unglamorous, because the costs that end a child's education are small and specific rather than dramatic.

The second is the long-term project: a permanent leadership training center in Jamaica. It has not been built. Donations move it closer and we are not going to describe progress that has not happened.

On what does not happen to your money: JEPF's officers serve as volunteers and have historically reported receiving no compensation from the foundation. That is the single most useful fact about where the money is not going, and it is in the public filings rather than in a marketing line.

We do not publish a percentage-to-programmes figure. Those numbers are defined flexibly across the sector and almost nobody checks them, and we will not put a figure on this site that has not been verified. What we will tell you is the legal name, Jamaica Education for the Poor Foundation, Inc., the EIN, 30-0207531, and that the filings are public.

If you want your gift tied to something specific, say so and we will arrange it. If you want to give goods rather than money, call (240) 330-5127 first so you collect what is actually needed.

Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and you will receive a receipt.
